Golf Opens Spring Season at El Campeon Collegiate

Flames Improve Team Score Each Round in Two-Day Event

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The UIC women's golf team wrapped up play at the El Campeon Collegiate on Tuesday, finishing ninth in an 11-team field after three rounds at Mission Inn Resort's El Campeón course.

The Flames posted team rounds of 348, 344 and 342 to finish at 1034 (+170) for the tournament. Rounds one and two were contested Monday, with the final round played Tuesday.

Junior Alejandra Ereño paced UIC with consistent play across all three rounds, carding scores of 81, 86 and 88 to finish at 255 (+39). Sophomore Camille Rosier followed with rounds of 86, 87 and 84, closing strong on Tuesday with her lowest round of the tournament to finish at 257 (+41).

Graduate student Montserrat Ramirez recorded rounds of 93, 85 and 84, bouncing back from Monday's opening round with back-to-back improved scores to finish at 262 (+46). Sophomore Anastassia Daudin turned in scores of 92, 86 and 86 for a 264 (+48), while sophomore Sydney Terada rounded out the lineup with rounds of 89, 95 and 93 to finish at 277 (+61).

North Dakota State claimed the team title at +79 (943), followed by Longwood (+83) and Bucknell (+107).

FLAMES FACTS
• UIC improved its team score in each round of the tournament (348-344-342).
• Rosier and Ramirez each posted final-round scores of 84, with Ereno's first round 81 being the lowest mark of the event.
• Ramirez shaved nine strokes off her opening-round score over the final 36 holes.
