CHICAGO – An advantage in the Horizon League standings is on the line Wednesday night as the UIC women's soccer team (5-8-2, 3-3-0 HL) goes head-to-head with Valparaiso (7-8-0, 3-3-0 HL) at Flames Field at 7 p.m. CT. The first 200 UIC students with a valid I-card will receive a free women's soccer winter hat.

The Flames are coming off a tough 4-0 loss at home Saturday (Oct. 15) against Northern Kentucky, who scored all of its goals in the first half. UIC was held to less than 10 shots for the second straight game as it pulled up for nine attempts, led by
Tamae Douglas and
Naomi Rushe with three each.

Since the midway point of the season, the Flames have gone 4-2-0 and scored 12 of their total 18 goals.
Rebeca Pallo has dominated the scoring effort with six goals to rank sixth in the conference standings, as
Olivia Everin and
Jasmin Carrera own a team-best four assists each. Pallo (30) and
Emily Wauer (31) have reached the 30-plus shot mark to lead the eight players in double digits, as the two have combined for 34 shots on goal.

Kelly Fritz has earned the starting role for UIC as she has gotten the nod in the last five games. She has made 31 saves on the year, tallied two shutouts and produced a 1.35 goals-against-average, with a mark of 1.20 against Horizon League foes.

The Crusaders own the upper hand in the all-time series with the Flames with two wins after taking a 3-1 decision last year.

Valparaiso prepares for the midweek matchup having fallen in its last two games against Wright State and Youngstown State. Of its seven wins on the season, three have come against conference opponents in Cleveland State, Milwaukee and Green Bay.

April Cronin (7) and Cory Griffith (5) have made up 12 of the Crusaders' 19 goals this year and added a combined five assists. The pair additionally leads the team in shots with 41 and 32, respectively, and have had 42 reach on goal.

Tess Barrett has played 945 minutes in goal for Valparaiso and has stopped 38 shots faced en route to three shutouts and a 1.05 GAA. Sydney Galvez-Daley has also earned significant time, making 18 saves and acquiring a 1.30 GAA.
