RESULTS
CHICAGO- The UIC Flames swimming and diving teams wrapped up competition at the Klotsche Natatorium on Saturday against Horizon League rival Milwaukee. The men's squad defeated the Panthers 178-121 while the women's team came up just short by a score of 111-186.
"Milwaukee gave us a great fight today," said head coach
Tim Loeffler. "We are taking away more from this meet than any victory we've had so far this year, and we're excited for next week."
The men's team won 12 out of their 16 respective events overall and improved on the season to 3-1-0. Freshman
Michael Tegeler won both the 100 backstroke (52.70) and 200 backstroke (1:53.10) while fellow freshman
Danny Sivak took first in both the 100 breaststroke (59.61) and 200 breaststroke (2:10.15).
Earning the top spot in the 1000 freestyle event was junior
Tanner Alms with his time of 9:48.26. Senior Nick Kowaleski was best in the 200 freestyle finishing with 1:44.57; Freshmen
Joseph Dalesandro,
Joseph Gibson, and
Kyle Miller all collected victories in their respective events as well.Â
On the women's side Junior Brianna Hines led the way for the Flames taking first in the 1000 freestyle (10:26.77), 200 freestyle (1:53.16) and the 500 freestyle (5:04. 78). Â Sophomore Annette Lesnicki also collected a win with her time of 58.55 in the 100 butterfly.
In diving, senior
Tyler Pastore swept the boards winning the one-meter dive with 276.52 points and the three-meter dive with 298.50 points; sophomore
Sean Scarry finished second in the event with 270.15 points. Katy Knight was a team best for the women in the one meter dive finishing with 222.15 points.Â
The Flames are back in the pool next weekend when they head across town to participate in the annual TYR Invitational hosted by Northwestern on Friday (Nov. 18) through Sunday (Nov. 20) inside the Norris Aquatic Center.Â
