CHICAGO – UIC (23-24, 14-8 HL) finished their five-game homestand with a 4-1 record after splitting a doubleheader with Youngstown State (11-31, 4-15 HL) on Sunday afternoon. The Flames won three of four games in the weekend doubleheader series with Northern Kentucky and Youngstown State.

Game 1: UIC 7, Youngstown State 2

Jake Dahlberg picked up his fifth win allowing one run over 5.1 IP to extend the Flames winning streak to six games. The left-hander breezed through 4.1 innings without allowing a hit. UIC used two big innings to stifle Youngstown State and reach the .500 mark on the season. The Flames scored four times in the fourth inning and three more in the eighth. Ricardo Ramirez snapped an 0-15 slump, going 2-4 with three RBI and Cody Bohanek added three hits with two runs scored.

Game 2: Youngstown 1, UIC 0

The Flames managed just three hits as Youngstown State edged out a 1-0 win. In three consecutive innings UIC had runners on second and third base with less than two outs, but were unable score. Youngstown scored the lone run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Mitchell Schulewitz took the loss despite 7.0 solid innings of four-hit baseball.

UIC has four days to rest up before traveling to Wright State in a matchup between the top two teams in the Horizon League. The Flames and Raiders will play each other five times during the final week of the season.
