CHICAGO - The women's golf team hit the links for the 2016 fall campaign at The Chi-Town Classic yesterday at The Course at Aberdeen (Valparaiso, Ind.) looking to repeat as champions. The Flames started off slow, but recovered to finish in second place with a score of 327.
"I am pleased with our perseverance on a very difficult day with conditions that were outside of our control, creating havoc the entire day and eventually canceling the second round," said head coach
Carol Rhoades.
The Flames were led by junior
Jennifer Kim, who finished fifth with a round of 80 and junior
Bailey Bostler (81) good for sixth. Sophomores
Meghan Kramp and
Kelly Sterling each fired an 83 and junior
Courteney Fabbri shot 90 in her first event as a member of the Flames. Senior
Shannon Menard ended with a 95 and freshmen
Brittany Norem rounded out the scoring with a 102.
"We had a difficult weekend competing with extreme weather conditions causing severe and at times unplayable course conditions," said Rhoades. "I was very impressed with the way we battled through and kept our focus. This is a great attribute as we build our team for the remainder of the season. We have just taken the first step in a long journey to the Horizon League Championship."
