Rochester, Mich. - The women's golf team wrapped up the two-day Golden Grizzlies Invitational with a seventh place finish at Katke-Cousins Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon.
The invitational was a chance for the Flames to play against fellow Horizon League members Oakland, Cleveland State, Youngstown State, Detroit-Mercy and Green Bay as well as non-conference competition from Niagara and Wayne State (MI).
"We are disappointed in our inconsistent performance from this past weekend," said head coach
Carol Rhoades. "Our inconsistency found us at the bottom against our Horizon League foes."
Bailey Bostler (86-82) compiled the most consistent effort in the tournament shooting a combined 168 to lead the Flames while
Kelly Sterling improved by nine strokes from the first day of competition to shoot an 80 in the final round.
"While showing stretches of excellence our stretches of insecurity led us to a subpar performance," said Rhoades. "We will regroup and prepare for the conclusion of our fall campaign at Toledo."
The Flames will have a week to prepare for the Rocket Classic to be held on Oct. 10-11 at the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, Ohio.
