Kramp Highlights UIC's First Day at HL Championship

Flames jump to tie for fifth with opening-day 324

HOWIE-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Sophomore Meghan Kramp fired an opening round 78 behind three birdies, as the UIC golf team totaled a 324 at the opening round of the Horizon League Championship on Sunday.

The Flames jumped from a team seven-seed (in the eight team field) up to a tie for fifth at the Las Colinas course at Mission Inn.

Junior Bailey Bostler shot a solid 80 carding a consistent 11 pars. Junior Courteney Fabbri chipped in with an 82, including an impressive birdie on the par 4, fourth hole. Sophomore Kelly Sterling also earned 11 pars en route to an 84.

"I'm very pleased with our day one performance," said Coach Mat Blair. "We made a nice leap as a team, and if we can minimize the big numbers, we can make some noise the next couple of days."

The Flames will tee off at 7:20 a.m. CT for round two Monday.
