CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (1-2) will return to the road to face No. 22 Marquette (3-1) on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CT inside Marquette's Al McGuire Center. Saturday's matchup will be the first meeting between the two squads since 1990.
Starting Five
- Byrd and Toney have both reached double digits in each of UIC's three games thus far. They are the only Flames to accomplish that feat in all three games, and they make up the top two in points, attempts, makes and rebounds.
- Either Byrd or Toney has finished as the leading scorer in every contest so far, with Byrd leading against Valpo and Loyola, and Toney leading at Northwestern.
- Sophomores Kara Wilson and Jada Nneji have appeared in UIC's starting lineup in the last two contests, making the first starts of their respective careers. Wilson has been stepping up in creating opportunities for the Flames, leading the squad in assists with an average of 4.0 assists per contest.
- Wilson continues to up her game as well, posting personal bests in points (7) and assists (5) at Northwestern, and then rewriting both of those personal bests on Saturday (Nov. 17) against Loyola with eight points and six helpers. The sophomore also led the squad with a career-high seven rebounds against the Ramblers.
- Kiarra Thompson has also been a contributor off the bench, averaging 3.7 points per game through the first three, including a career-high six-point performance in the season opener against Valpo. On Saturday against Loyola, Thompson tallied four points and drew two fouls for the Flames.
Last Time Out
- A fourth-quarter comeback by Loyola led to a 75-60 loss for the Flames on Saturday at home.
- The Flames shot 41.7 percent from the field, but were outshot by the Ramblers, who made 46 percent of all shots. Â
- The Flames sank 52.9 percent of threes, their best showing since Feb. 23, 2018 against Northern Kentucky. Freshman Tatum McCall had a breakout performance on Saturday against Loyola, going 4-of-5 from beyond the arc for her first double-digit scoring effort of the season.

With a win, UIC would:
- Win its second game of the season
- Win its first game against Marquette since 1986
- Improve to .500
Marquette's Make Up
- Ranked No. 22 in the nation, Marquette is off to a 3-1 start, most recently taking its first loss of the season at No. 24 Miami on Thursday (Nov. 15).
- Â The Golden Eagles come in at 21st in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 87.0 points per game. Marquette is tenth in the nation in assists, handing out an average of 20.3 helpers per game.
- Allazia Blockton averages 17.3 points per game to lead the Golden Eagles' offense, but she shares the offensive load, as each member of Marquette's starting five averages double figures in scoring. Natisha Hiedeman (13.5 ppg), Erika Davenport (11.8 ppg), Amani Wilborn (11.3 ppg) and Danielle King (10.5 ppg) have started all four games thus far to make up 74 percent of Marquette's points.
