CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (1-4) briefly returns home to welcome its second Mid-American Conference opponent in as many games, Miami University, on Saturday, Dec. 1. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. CT inside Credit Union 1 Arena. Saturday's contest is part of a doubleheader, as the men's squad takes on crosstown rival Loyola at 3:12 p.m.
Starting Five
- Senior Brittany Byrd continues to lead UIC's scoring efforts, ranking fifth in the League with an average of 15.5 points per game.
- Taylor Toney also averages double-digits in scoring, putting up 10.5 points per game to also place in the Horizon League's top 20. Toney led all players with 12 rebounds on Tuesday against the Eagles, her first double-digit rebounding effort of the season.
- Kiarra Thompson made the first start of her career on Tuesday at Eastern Michigan. The sophomore tallied five points and set a new career high with eight rebounds.
- Jada Nneji had a near double-double on Tuesday, leading the team against the Eagles with eight points, her highest total of the season. Nneji also recorded eight rebounds and a pair of steals.
- Jasmine Gaines remains as the lone newcomer to start every game so far, ranking third on the team in assists (1.4 per game) and fourth in field-goal percentage (.333).
Last Time Out
- The Flames took a 52-38 loss in a defensive battle with Eastern Michigan on Tuesday. Both teams posted team highs in steals, as the Flames stole 11 to the Eagles' 16.
- UIC also had its best showing of the season on the boards, out-rebounding the Eagles 51-44.
- The Flames were outshot, 30.4 percent to 26 percent. The Eagles also had more attempts, 69-50.
RedHawks Round Up
- Miami University has won four of its first five contests, dropping its first game of the season on Monday (Nov. 26) at No. 5 Louisville.
- The RedHawks were picked to finish second in the East Division in the Mid-American Conference Preseason Poll, just one point behind Buffalo.
- Miami has three players averaging over 10 points a game in Lauren Dickerson (13.4 ppg), Savannah Kluesner (12.8 ppg) and Kristen Levering (10.4 ppg).
- Kluesner also leads the way in rebounds, averaging 7.2 rebounds per contest.
- Â In addition to leading the squad in scoring, Dickerson also hands out points as well, pacing the squad with 29 assists so far.

- Win its second game of the season
- Win its third-straight game against Miami
- Win its first game of the season vs. a MAC opponent
