CHICAGO - Coach Pointer's journey in Senegal, Africa continues as she visits Dakar. Read her second blog post below:
Greetings from Dakar, Senegal! The past several days have been a whirlwind as we visited the U.S. Embassy, met with the U.S. Ambassador to Senegal, met some great basketball dignitaries, and shared with others why we are passionate about this amazing sport. The one constant by my side on this trip is my oldest daughter, who with this experience is now able to view her life and the world through a different lens. My husband and I make it a point that both our daughters increase in two very important parts of life - education and experience. Education is the greatest equalizer and experience is a phenomenal teacher. My hope for both our daughters is that they choose paths in life that reflect positive growth due to syncing their educations and experiences. And through this it is our desire they appreciate people not for what they have, but who they are.
For obvious reasons I'm happy my oldest daughter likes basketball, but it is more significant for me to help her find why she was placed here on earth. The world is too big and too amazing for me to impose limiting beliefs on her life. She must shine! #Letyourlightshine!
