CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (3-15, 1-6 HL) will continue its five-game road trip this weekend, as they head north to take on defending Horizon League Champion Green Bay (11-6, 6-1 HL) on Thursday, Jan. 24. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT inside Green Bay's Kress Center.
Starting Five
- Brittany Byrd ranks third in the Horizon League in scoring, averaging 15.0 points per game. Byrd also ranks 14th in rebounding, averaging 6.5 boards per game.
- Jada Nneji has put up five or more blocks in her last four showings after stopping seven on Saturday at IUPUI. The standout forward owns 57 total blocks this season, good for third in the country. Her 3.2 blocks per game average leads the Horizon League and comes in at fifth in the nation.
- UIC ranks 33rd in the nation in blocked shots, totaling 83 stops as a squad. Its 4.60 blocks per game average comes in at second in the Horizon League.
- Abreanna Lake tallied her first double-digit scoring effort in a Flames uniform on Saturday, contributing a career-high 10 points for UIC. The sophomore also rebounded two and assisted on three against the Jags.
- The Flames rank fourth in the League in three-point field goal defense, containing opponents to just 28.9 shooting from downtown. UIC has kept the opposition under 35 percent from three-point range in 12 of its 18 contests this year. Only two teams have shot above 40 percent from three against the Flames, Miami (45 percent) and Northern Kentucky (45 percent).
