PEORIA, Ill. – The UIC women's tennis team (6-4) extended its win streak to four after a 4-1 win over SIUE (3-4) on Saturday. The Flames took the first two doubles matches at one and two to take the doubles point and quickly took three of the first four singles matches to come home with the win.
Doubles Highlights
Lejla Colic and
Karyna Bihel combined to take down Lara Tupper and Ann-Christine Link 6-2 at No. 1 to start the Flames on a high note.
Lucie Prochazkova and
Georgie Sanders won their third-straight as a duo with a 6-3 win against Maria Thibault and Callaghan Adams at No. 2 to give UIC the doubles point, and the No. 3 match had
Georgia Gulin and
Viktoria Seifert taking on Alina Munteanu and Nicole Gomez, but it went unfinished.
Singles Highlights
Gulin put UIC ahead by a pair with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 over Adams, and Sanders soundly defeated Raillane Kamdem 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 to make it 3-0. Munteanu went ahead on Colic at No. 1, 6-2, 5-0, before Colic retired, but
Nell Arendt took down Link at No. 6, 6-2, 6-4, to clinch the win for good. The No. 2 match between Bihel and Tupper and the No. 3 match between Prochazkova and Gomez went unfinished.
