CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (3-23, 1-14 HL) kicks off a three-game homestand on Saturday, Feb. 23 as it welcomes IUPUI (17-9, 11-4 HL) to Credit Union 1 Arena at 12 p.m. CT. Saturday's tilt kicks off both the longest and last homestand for the Flames in 2018-19.
Starting Five
- Senior Brittany Byrd came just shy of her fourth double-double of the year on Saturday (Feb. 16) at Oakland, leading the team with 19 points and nine rebounds. Byrd has now racked up 1,108 career points, moving her into a tie for 15th on UIC's all-time scoring list alongside former standout Katie Hannemann.
- Junior Tylah Lampley has contributed back-to-back double-digit scoring efforts, coming off the bench against both Detroit Mercy and Oakland last week. Lampley ranks third on the squad in points (125), and is fourth in both shooting and rebounding, making 34.6 percent of her shots and averaging 3.2 rebounds per game.
- Sophomore Jada Nneji is averaging 2.9 blocks per game to lead the Horizon League and rank fifth in the nation. The standout forward owns 64 blocks this season, 54 of which have come against Horizon League opponents.
- Senior Kienya Jones is UIC's most efficient shooter, making 51 percent of her shots to put her at eighth in the League. Jones has reached double figures six times this year, half of which have come this month alone.
- Freshman Jasmine Gaines leads the team in assists, handing out an average of 1.3 helpers per game. Gaines is also UIC's best shooter from the free-throw line, sinking 75 percent of her shots from the stripe this year.
