CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (2-4) welcomed Pac-12 member Oregon (5-2) to XS Tennis on Friday for its home opener. The Flames secured the doubles point, but were only able to come up with one more point in singles to take the 5-2 loss.
Doubles Highlights
Oregon got the first win, as Shweta Sangwan and Rifanty Kahfiani defeated
Karyna Bihel and
Lucie Prochazkova in the No. 1 match, 6-1.
Rachel Le Comber joined
Nell Arendt at No. 3 to take down Allison Mulville and Taryn Fujimori, 6-4, while
Georgia Gulin and
Viktoria Seifert were victorious at No. 2 over Paiton Wagner and Dnaiela Nasser by the same score, 7-6 (3).
Singles Highlights
Le Comber got the point for UIC in singles right off the bat at No.6, defeating Fujimori in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. Sanders was next at No. 4, falling 6-2, 6-1 to Wagner. Prochazkova was bested by Kahfiani at No. 3, 6-3, 6-2 and the No. 2 match between Bihel and Nasser went to the Ducks, 6-1, 6-4. Gulin dropped a 6-4, 6-4 loss at No. 4 to Mulville and Colic fell to Sangwan at No. 1, 6-4, 6-1.
