Women’s Tennis Faces off with Illinois Tech on Wednesday

Flames seeking 12th-consecutive win

CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (13-4) will take a midweek break in Horizon League action as it welcomes Illinois Tech (15-5). Originally scheduled for Thursday, April 4 at XS Tennis, the match will now be played on Wednesday, April 3 at 9 a.m. CT at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts.

UIC has won its last 11-straight matches following a 4-3 victory over Horizon League foe Wright State on Sunday (March 31). The Flames took the doubles point, grabbed victories in the first two singles matches and never looked back, clinching the win just two matches later.

The Flames boast a 64-36 record in singles with a 19-5 mark against conference opponents. Rachel Le Comber continues to climb the ranks on the career wins list, collecting her 73rd and 74th career singles wins this weekend to land in a tie for eighth all-time. The senior has won her last nine matches and is a perfect 8-0 from the No. 5 spot. In doubles action, UIC owns a 27-16 record, going 8-2 against Horizon League foes.

Illinois Tech finished with a doubleheader split on Sunday, falling 7-2 to Augustana, but rebounding with a 7-2 victory over Coe. The Scarlet Hawks are 15-5 on the season, boasting an 8-2 record in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).

Following Wednesdays match, the Flames will get back to Horizon League action, facing IUPUI on the road on Saturday, April 6.
