CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (14-4) continued its win streak on Wednesday morning with a 6-1 takedown of Illinois Tech (15-6). The Flames got it done with only five players, shutting out the Scarlet Hawks in three singles matches after winning the doubles point to take home their 12th-straight win.
Doubles Highlights
Georgie Sanders and
Viktoria Seifert dominated at No. 2 versus Sophia Nelson and Kaitlyn Graves, 6-1.
Lejla Colic and
Rachel Le Comber joined up for the first time this season at No. 1, eliminating Weronika Halicka and Morgan Colbert 6-2 to give the Flames the first point of the match.
Singles Highlights
Nell Arendt blanked Nelson at No. 4, 6-0, 6-0 and Le Comber followed with another shutout at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0. Le Comber's win was her 10th-straight and 75th of her career, allowing her to take sole possession of eighth place all-time.
Viktoria Seifert sealed the deal on the win with UIC's third-straight shutout at No. 5, taking down Graves, 6-0, 6-0. Colic came out victorious at No. 1, 6-1, 6-3 over Halicka and Sanders finished off at No. 2 with a win against Colbert, 6-1, 6-2. The No. 6 match went to the Scarlet Hawks by forfeit.
