CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (2-13, 1-3 HL) continues its longest homestand of the season this weekend, welcoming defending Horizon League Champion Wright State (8-7, 3-1 HL) to the Credit Union 1 Arena on Thursday, Jan. 9. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
WITH A WIN, UIC WOULD:
- Improve to 3-13 on the season
- Win its second Horizon League game of the season
- Improve to 35-29 all-time against Wright State
- Snap a 14-game losing streak against the Raiders
- Win its second home game of the season
LAST TIME OUT
- UIC picked up its first Horizon League win of the season on Saturday with a 70-64 overtime victory over Oakland.
- The Flames erased a seven-point fourth quarter by outscoring the Golden Grizzlies 14-8 in overtime to secure not only their first conference win, but also their first win at home of the season.
- Four Flames finished in double figures for the first time this season, as Tylah Lampley, Jada Nneji, Tiana Jackson and Kimeira Burks all finished with more than 10 points.
- UIC shot above 40 percent as a squad in its third-consecutive showing, shooting 43.5 percent overall for its highest shooting percentage in Horizon League play so far.

- Junior Abreanna Lake has been making plays for her teammates, averaging 3.5 assists per game to lead the Flames and rank second in the Horizon League.
- Lake has handed out five or more assists on four occasions, including a season-high eight against Eastern Michigan (Dec. 18).
- Lake ranks fifth in the League in assist/turnover ratio, with a ratio of 1.2.
- The junior has handed out the most assists in 11 out of UIC's 15 contests.
DRIVING FOR BUCKETS
- The Flames have had success in driving the ball and scoring in the paint as of late, tallying 30 points or more in the paint in their last three contests.
- In those three contests, at least 46 percent of UIC's total points have come from within the paint.
- UIC has also shot 40 percent or better in those same three contests.
- Both of UIC's wins this season have come with 30 or more paint points.
- The Flames have tallied 30+ points from the paint in five games this year and have outscored their opponents in the paint four times this season.
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
- Defending Horizon League Champion Wright State has resumed its spot at the top of the League, owning a 3-1 record two weeks into conference play.
- The Raiders are the top rebounding team in the League, averaging 42.9 boards per game as the only team to average above 40 rebounds per contest.
- Wright State has a comfortable lead in offensive rebounds, averaging 16.1 offensive boards per game, compared to IUPUI in second with 12.2 per game.
- Angel Baker leads the Raiders in both points per game (16.9 ppg) and assists (3.1 per game), putting her at second in the League in scoring and seventh in assists.
- Tyler Frierson leads the League's top rebounders with an average of 8.3 rebounds per game, giving her second place in the conference in the category.
- Wright State has the advantage all-time, 35-28, and has taken the last 14 meetings consecutively. The two teams last saw one another on Jan. 31, 2019, when the Raiders grabbed a 72-47 victory on their own court.
