INDIANAPOLIS – Junior
Jada Nneji of UIC women's basketball has earned a spot on the Horizon League All-Defensive Team, the conference office announced on Monday. Nneji takes home the All-League distinction for the second-straight season and second time in her career.
Nneji garners the award after playing a pivotal role in UIC's defensive presence all season, leading the League and ranking 30th in the nation in blocks per game with an average of 2.2 per contest. The junior has made 57 blocks this season, a mark which ranks fourth-most in UIC's single season history.
Nneji recently moved into third place all-time at UIC with 143 stops in her career, surpassing recent UIC great
Ruvanna Campbell (2013-16). The Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada native finished the regular season with 15 multi-block showings, including a season-high six on Feb. 6 at Oakland. Nneji also leads the Flames and ranks seventh in the League in steals, averaging 1.4 takes per game.
In addition to her role on defense, Nneji leads the squad in several offensive categories, including points (294), scoring average (11.3 ppg), field goal percentage (43.3. percent), and rebounds (189). Nneji has scored in double figures on 15 occasions, and she owns a team-high four double-doubles this season.
 Nneji and the rest of the Flames will be heading to No. 3 seed Wright State on Tuesday, March 3 for its first round of the Horizon League Championship.
