WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The UIC women's golf team remains in fourth place following the second round of competition at the Horizon League Golf Championship. As a team, the Flames improved by four strokes with a second round 306 and enter the final round of competition with a two-round total of 616.

"Emma [Hayes] had a career-best 74 and I'm really proud of her," said head coach
Mat Blair. "She hit some big putts down the stretch to hold everything together. We struggled a bit on the back half but got off to a fast start and hopefully we can carry that over to tomorrow."

Hayes had the low round of the day for UIC with her career-best score of 74. The sophomore came out of the gate firing on all cylinders, playing the first six holes at 2-under. Hayes and
Adrienne Montalone enter the final round tied for 17
th on the individual leaderboard at +11 (155).

Megan Tang is UIC's individual leader after her 75 in the second round has the freshman in a tie for 12
th place at 154 (+10).

Brooke Beyer sits one stroke behind Hayes and Montalone at 156 after shooting a 5-over 77 in Monday's second round. Freshman
Grace Szklarek rounded out the day with an 82 and enters the final round at +15 (159).

The Flames own an 11-shot lead over fifth-place Oakland and sit 11 strokes behind third-place Green Bay. UIC's 306 in the second round was the third lowest round of the day in the field, trailing IUPUI and Youngstown State who enter the final round tied atop the leaderboard.
