Strandberg Earns All-League Honor

Flames Junior Makes Horizon League's Second Team

Pelle Strandberg was named to the All-Horizon League Second Team, as the conference announced its postseason awards today.

"Pelle was a leader for us this season," Hans Neufeld said.  "We had three freshmen competing in every match.  He led by example and helped them adjust to college competition.  He also took our opponents' best shot and competed in every match."

Strandberg was a mainstay atop the Flames' lineup, where he competed as the #1 singles player in all 17 matches.  He appeared on the #1 doubles court in all but three matches.  Strandberg had big days against Cardinal Stritch and Chicago State, winning his singles and doubles matches against both teams.

Strandberg also picked up a singles win against Illinois State.  He paired with Artem Iermolov for doubles wins against the Wolves and Cougars.

The All-League honor is the first of Strandberg's career.  The Flames have had at least one representative on the last two all-conference teams, and four of the last five.
