Four Flames Named WGCA All-American Scholars

Emma Hayes, Stephanie Mroz, Grace Szklarek and Megan Tang recognized for academic success

CHICAGO – Four members of the UIC golf team, Emma Hayes, Stephanie Mroz, Grace Szklarek and Megan Tang, were recognized for their academic success, as the Women's Golf Coaches Association announced its annual All-American Scholar Team.
 
Mroz earned her third consecutive All-American Scholar recognition while Hayes and Tang have been selected to the team for the second year in a row. Szklarek, a freshman, collected her first All-American Scholar honor.
 
To be eligible for the All-American Scholar Team, individuals must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
 
As a team, the Flames broke numerous program records, including season scoring average (311.50), total birdies (134), Par 4 scoring (4.42) and Par 5 scoring (5.26) in addition setting the single round scoring record twice with consecutive rounds of 296 at the Golfweek Spring Invitational. UIC also set the low 36 hole total (609) and low 54 hole totals (905) throughout the year.
 
Individually, Tang set the single-season scoring average record with a 76.94 and the single season Par 4 scoring average record of 4.23.
