Strong doubles play highlighted UIC's first dual match of 2022, at Toledo Sunday.  The Flames jumped out to an early lead with a pair of wins on the doubles courts, but the Rockets, who had the advantage of having played a match earlier in the weekend, proved to be stronger in singles and won the match, 5-2.

Ana Jover, who was last seen competing at ITA Super Regionals, improved her singles record to a team-best 7-3 with a win on the #3 court.

The Flames will return to action with a pair of matches next weekend at XS Tennis.

Doubles Results

• Tamara Malazonia and Lea Forste-Dinell breezed to a 6-2 win at #3.
• Agnes Gustafsson and Jover clinched the doubles point with their 6-4 win at #1.
• Dominika Hrabalova and Nell Arendt trailed 4-5 in their set at #2 when play was halted.

Singles Results

• Hrabalova fell by a 6-4, 6-2 count in the #4 flight.
• Toledo took the lead after defeating Arendt at #6, 6-4, 6-0.
• Forste-Dinell dropped a 6-4, 6-2 match on the #5 court.
• Jover pulled the Flames to within a point after her 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 win.
• The Rockets clinched the match on the #1 court, where Gustafsson went toe-to-toe before falling 6-4, 7-6 (3).
• Malazonia won the first set but was unable to pull out the match, 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-4 at #2.
