The UIC women's basketball team (2-15, 1-11 Horizon) are back in action for an early week make-up game against the Northern Kentucky Norse (14-4, 8-3 Horizon) on Tuesday, Feb. 1. This game was originally scheduled for Jan. 2 but was canceled due to COVID-19 protocol.Â
The Flames continue their home stretch of games after falling to the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons, 88-61. The Flames fell flat in the opening half of play, as the team shot 6-26. With the offensive struggles in the first half, it was an upward fight to get back into the game.
The Flames saw a strong effort from
Justice Gee, who scored 11 points in the third quarter to pull UIC back to striking distance, but the Mastodons offense rolled. Purdue Fort Wayne shot 53.7% from the field on the game and scored their highest point total of the season against UIC.Â
The NKU Norse fell to the Green Bay Phoenix, 67-58, in their most recent game on Saturday, Jan. 29. The Norse have been a strong team throughout the season, sitting in third place in the Horizon League with an 8-3 conference record. Before their Saturday loss, the Norse were riding a ten-game winning streak that spanned back to Dec. 5. NKU is one of the top offensive teams in the league, averaging 68.6 points per contest.
Their leader on offense is Lindsey Duvall, who averages 18.3 points per game, ranking her second in the Horizon League. Duvall has impressed this season, scoring 20 or more points in seven on their 18 games. The Flames will look to subdue her output on offense heading into Tuesday's game.
Tip off is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 1 at Credit Union 1 Arena at 1 p.m.
