UIC will be represented at the ITA All-American Championships, when Aleksa Bucan takes the courts Monday in the qualifying round.  His first match is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the University of Tulsa.

By virtue of his #69 national ranking, Bucan placed directly into the qualifying draw, bypassing the pre-qualifying rounds that started Saturday.  He is one of 128 qualifiers who will attempt to progress through the bracket until the final 16 advance into the main draw.

As a top-32 seed amongst the qualifiers, Bucan's first-round match will be against a to-be-determined player who emerges from the pre-qualifying bracket.  That group started as a 256-player field from which the final 16 will move into the qualifying round.

Bucan has one event under his belt this fall.  He earned two wins at the ITF 15K Pro Futures event, including over the #1 seed, and advanced to the main draw.

The All-American Championships are one of the largest events in college tennis, bringing together hundreds of the top players from around the country.  Play will continue through October 9 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
