Bailey Moran broke a school record, and Angel Solis and Anthony Gordon had standout performances, at the first indoor track and field meet of the season.  UIC competed against eight other schools at the season-opening DePaul Holiday Invitational, at Gately Park on Chicago's south side.

"Today we had a small group compete and came away with a few outstanding performances to start our indoor season," Paul Zavala said.  "We are excited to see several of our team members enter the Top-10 lists and congratulations to Bailey on setting a new school record."

Moran ran eighth in the 300, finishing in 41.84 seconds.  That beat the six-year old record by over nine-tenths of a second.  Olivia Dumas was just one spot behind, and her time of 42.07 also bested Mia Cruz-Bastian's previous mark of 42.76.

Solis had a memorable run in the 800 meters.  The freshman finished second with a time of 1:58.81.  In the long jump, Gordon set a personal best with a jump of 6.64 meters.  That was good for fourth place in the event.  Solis was also part of the 4x400 relay team, which finished fifth.

UIC's men had three top-10 finishes in three different events.  Max Rivera led the way in the 200 with a fourth place run and a personal record.  Sacrad Michelin (sixth, 22.68) and Austin Beckon (ninth, 23.09) were both within a second of Rivera's 22.45 time.  In the 300, Trevor Tousana ran a 35.81 to finish fifth.  Xion Russell was eighth (37.24), edging Will Stout in ninth (37.76).

Tre Rivers finished the 600 in 1:24.57 to take fourth place.  Marv Quinones ran a 1:28.42 in his collegiate debut to take eighth, and fellow freshman Miguel Agcaoili was tenth with a time of 1:30.51.
Rivera in the 60, Rivers in the 600, and Tousana and Russell in the 300, all posted Top-10 times in the Flames record book.

On the women's side, the Flames had a big turnout in the 600.  Kate Wojcikiewicz came in fourth (personal best 1:38.42), and Brooke Klatkiewicz was eighth (1:43.91).  They entered the UIC record books in fourth and seventh place, respectively.  Bella Dicrosta came in seventh in the 3000, breaking the 11-minute barrier.

Nyarai Terry was a double entrant.  She was tenth in the 200 and 14th in the 60 hurdles, in which she set a personal record of 9.27.  The latter time is fourth best in program history.

Missouri Valley foes Illinois State and Indiana State competed along with regional rivals Milwaukee, Marquette, and Butler.  Local teams from DePaul, Chicago State, and Loyola rounded out the field.

The Flames will be off until after the holidays.  They will return to action right back at Gately Park January 20 at the Blue Demon/Rambler Invite.
