UIC women's basketball (2-18, 1-14 Horizon) is headed to Dayton, Ohio, to take on the Wright State Raiders (2-19, 1-15 Horizon). UIC faced NKU in their most recent game, falling 67-57; Wright State most recently faced IUPUI falling 73-60.
UIC had a good outing against the Norse despite the outcome of the game. The Flames were aggressive on offense and passed the ball well in the first and four quarters especially. The Flames also did a great job forcing the Norse into turnovers. NKU turned the ball over 18 times in Thursday's game. UIC's bench looked great as well, outscoring the NKU bench 32-6.
Justice Gee led the charge on that front, tying a career-high 16 points.
Kristian Young matched that off the bench, scoring 16 points as a reserve for the Flames.Â
Wright State put up a strong effort against one of the top mid-major teams in women's basketball: IUPUI. The Raiders held the Jaguars under 40% shooting from the field.
Destyne Jackson and
Jada Roberson led the way in scoring for Wright State, each putting up 18 points a pop. Despite the strong effort from each, IUPUI was able to pull off the victory with their depth and strong rebounding effort.Â
The Flames will need some strong effort from their bench players in Saturday's match-up against the Raiders. UIC had a very strong game from their bench against NKU. This factor will be a crucial piece in the success of the game. Gee has been on a tear in the past, averaging 11 points per game in the past four games.
The Flames and Raiders are scheduled to tip off for Feb. 12, at 1:00 p.m. The game will be held at the Wright State University Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio.
