HINSDALE, Ill. - UIC men's tennis (1-6) fell to Cardinal Stritch (1-3) in Sunday's match, 5-2. The Flames looked strong in doubles, winning two of three matches behind the strong effort behind the teams of
Ammar Wazir and
Kevin Kruzel, and
Gustavo Schwebel and
Daan Bank. Both teams picked up victories in Sunday's match.
"Great energy to get our first doubles point," said head coach
Hans Neufeld.
The Flames struggled in singles to Cardinal Stritch, with Wazir picking up the lone singles win.
Pelle Strandberg played well in his match as well, getting two set points, but fell to
Daniel Vishnick.
"Ammar continues to improve, moving up after
Francesco Tacconi had to sit out with injury," said Neufeld.
The Flames will take on Creighton in Omaha, Neb., on Friday, Feb. 18.
