Men's Tennis Falls To Cardinal Stritch On Sunday

The Flames Struggled In Singles Leading Despite A Strong Effort On Doubles

HINSDALE, Ill. - UIC men's tennis (1-6) fell to Cardinal Stritch (1-3) in Sunday's match, 5-2. The Flames looked strong in doubles, winning two of three matches behind the strong effort behind the teams of Ammar Wazir and Kevin Kruzel, and Gustavo Schwebel and Daan Bank. Both teams picked up victories in Sunday's match.

"Great energy to get our first doubles point," said head coach Hans Neufeld.

The Flames struggled in singles to Cardinal Stritch, with Wazir picking up the lone singles win. Pelle Strandberg played well in his match as well, getting two set points, but fell to Daniel Vishnick.

"Ammar continues to improve, moving up after Francesco Tacconi had to sit out with injury," said Neufeld.

The Flames will take on Creighton in Omaha, Neb., on Friday, Feb. 18.
