CHICAGO – The UIC track & field team will get one final weekend of preparations in before the Horizon League Championships as the Flames will split squads to compete in a pair of meets this weekend.
 
A majority of the squad will head down to Champaign for the Illini Classic on Friday while six Flames will instead make the trek to South Bend for Notre Dame's Alex Wilson Invite.
 
Last time out, a number of PRs fell as UIC competed at the Big Meet, hosted by Grand Valley State. Ciana Clinton finished eighth in the shot put with a PR mark of 12.96m. PRs fell in both the men's and women's 5000m races, with Rosie Campbell-Watt and Maxum Caesar each besting their previous best times in the event.
 
UIC's distance runners continued to excel, with Teresa Mejia and Dathan Maton each setting new PRs in the 3000m.
 
Friday and Saturday will be the final meets of the regular season before the Horizon League Indoor Championships, hosted by Youngstown State Feb. 26-27.
