EVANSTON, Ill. - UIC men's tennis (1-5) was swept by Big Ten member Northwestern (6-2). The Flames struggled against one of the top teams in the Big Ten in Northwestern, as UIC was unable to secure a match win.
The team of
Daan Bank and
Artem Iermolov played competitively against their opponents. Bank and Iermolov secured two games but ultimately fell to the Wildcats.
In singles play,
Pelle Strandberg and
Francesco Tacconi stood out. Strandberg won four games in the second set, the most of any Flame. Tacconi won three games in the first set against his Wildcat opponent. The graduate student played well despite the outcome.
The Flames will host Cardinal Stritch next Sunday, Feb. 13, at Hinsdale Racket Club.
