UIC women's basketball (2-17, 1-13 Horizon) is hitting the road this week for a Thursday evening match-up against the Northern Kentucky Norse (16-5, 10 Horizon). The Flames and NKU last faced off last week Tuesday, Feb. 1, in Chicago. In that game, the Flames fell to the Norse 71-41.
The Flames most recently fell on Sunday, Feb. 6, 59-47, to the Oakland Golden Grizzlies. The Flames were led by
Jaida McCloud, who finished with 27 points and eight rebounds. The Flames played well but were unable to stop the rolling offense of the Golden Grizzlies. UIC was also without
Kristian Young, who is the team's second-highest scorer.
Keona Schenck and
Bailey Lutes did a great job running the offense in her abscense. With the end of the regular season nearing, the Flames will look to finish strong.
In NKU's most recent game, the Norse took on third-seeded Cleveland State, with NKU falling 59-56. The Norse were led by
Emmy Souder, who scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds. The Norse are led by Horizon League Player of the Year candidate: Lindsey Duvall. Duvall leads the team in scoring, averaging 17.5 points per game, and grabs 7.3 rebounds a game. The Flames managed to slow her down in their first game, holding Duvall to only nine points on 25% shooting.
This game is scheduled to tip off Thursday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m.Â
