With strong play throughout the match, and timely performances in tiebreakers, UIC defeated Middle Tennessee State 5-2 Friday at XS Tennis.
The Flames claimed the doubles point via a tiebreaker after the teams had split the first two sets. Four Flames claimed singles wins – three in straight sets – to help the team halt a two-match losing skid.

- After cruising to a first-set win, Jover was behind in the second set before rallying for a 6-0, 6-3 win at #3.
- Middle Tennessee State got a point with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Hrabalova at #4.
- Malazonia won a first set tiebreaker, and used the momentum to dominate the second set, 7-6 (4), 6-1 at #2.
- Hermanny de Figueiredo clinched the team win with a 7-5, 6-4 win at #5.
- Gustafsson rallied from a set down to claim a win in the #1 flight, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-2.
- Forste-Dinell won the first set of her #6 match in a tiebreaker, but could not find another win as she went down 6-7 (2), 6-4, 10-4.
