CHICAGO – Top performances from Carlos Cabrera, Teresa Mejia, Sacrad Michelin and Baliey Moran highlighted the first day of competition at the Illini Invitational.
 
Cabrera led the pack with a fourth-place finish in the men's 5000m to cap the first day of action, crossing the line in a PR time of 14:39.86. Dathan Maton was also in action in the event, finishing 10^th overall (14:58.31).
 
In the women's 5000m, Teresa Mejia improved upon her PR in the event, posting a time of 17:47.36 to finish sixth overall.
 
A pair of Flames finished 11^th overall in the 400m hurdles, with Haley Dahl (1:07.98) and Will Stout (1:00.00) in action in the women's and men's races, respectively.
 
Sacrad Michelin finished in eighth place (21.55) while Max Rivera claimed 14^th (21.76) in the men's 200m, as the pair each set PRs in the event. In the women's 200m, Bailey Moran claimed a PR with an eighth-place finish (25.13) while Olivia Dumas followed suit with her 10^th-place effort (25.16).
 
The Flames will be back in action Saturday for the final day of the Illini Invitational
