Ashleen Bracey further bolstered her lineup on Friday, June 10, with the signing of Marta Gomez.

Marta is a point guard with good size and pro level experience. She is defensive-minded and has the ability to make plays as well as distribute. Marta plays the game with tremendous pace and has a high basketball IQ. She is great addition to our Flames WBB family."

Gomez, a native of Madrid, Spain, comes to UIC after averaging 10.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game a season ago. The 5-foot-8 guard spent the 2021-22 season with the junior 1
st level and professional level teams of MOVISTAR Estudiantes in the top professional league in Spain, Liga Endesa. During the spring season, Gomez and MOVISTAR Estudiantes competed in La Copa De La Reina, a mid-year competition featuring eight of the best teams in the Spanish league.

Gomez has been part of the MOIVSTAR Edtudiantes program since the 2017 season, making her way up the club ranks. The guard has also represented the Madrid Basketball Federation at the junior level dating back to 2014. In 2018, Gomez was selected by the Spanish National Team to participate in the U15 FIBA Youth Development program. During her prep career, Gomez has helped her team to a pair of Infantil Madrid Basketball championships.

Gomez becomes the fourth player to sign a National Letter of Intent to join Bracey's inaugural class.
