CHICAGO (Nov. 10, 2023) – UIC head coach
Lynn Curylo announced the 2024 UIC softball recruiting class earlier this week. The coaching staff secured six commitments from high school standouts to join the program in the Fall of 2024.
"I am excited to add all six of these student-athletes to the Flames family," Curylo said. "This class has speed, power, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to get better, day in and day out. I am looking forward to them making an immediate impact next fall."
TRINITY BRANDHORST – SS/OF – Pacific, Mo. – Pacific High School
Brandhorst's high school softball career ended last month, but the mark she made on Pacific High School's program over the past four seasons has been felt.
A three-time first-team All-Four Rivers Conference selection, Brandhorst finished the season with a .500 batting average, tallying 15 doubles and 29 RBI. She walks away as the school's career record holder for runs scored (125) and stolen bases (70).
JENNA OSBORNE – P – Denton, Texas – Guyer High School
JORDAN OSBORNE – C – Denton, Texas – Guyer High School
As a member of the Wildcats' pitching rotation, Jenna played an integral role in helping Guyer High School go 38-2 her junior year. She will be joining the Flames next fall alongside her sister, Jordan, who was pivotal in the Panthers' success as their catcher.
The sisters led Guyer to 6A district, bi-district, area and regional championship, ultimately finishing as state runners-up after advancing to the title game against Pearland.
NINA PESARE – OF – Lisle, Ill. – Benet Academy
A slap-hitting outfielder, Pesare has been a pillar of Benet Academy's success the past three seasons. Last year, she batted .438, tallying 63 hits, collected 17 RBI and stole 26 bases, helping Benet place third in the state.
Pesare has earned All-East Suburban Catholic Conference honors and has been named to the
Naperville Sun All-Area Team following each of her three seasons with the Redwings.
SEQUOIA SANCHEZ – 1B/3B – Eastvale, Calif. – Eleanor Roosevelt High School
Sanchez was a staple in Eleanor Roosevelt High School's 2021-22 run to a California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) South Division I championship and an appearance in the CIF Division I regional championship.
A three-year varsity corner infielder, she has also been selected for second-team all-league honors and was a member of the league's All-Academic Team.
A member of the Corona Angels FTS travel team, Sanchez has built a reputation as a college-ready hitter with a high ceiling. She is also defensively polished and prepared to make the jump from high school to the college level.
JASMINE WHORLEY – P/INF – Alameda, Calif. – Alameda High School
A three-year varsity starter, Whorley boasts a lifetime .316 batting average for the Hornets with 48 hits, six doubles, a triple and 22 RBI. In the circle, Whorley made 20 appearances for Alameda last season, finishing with a 12-2 record. She struck out 174 batters in 113.2 innings pitched and threw nine complete games. Entering her final prep season next spring, Whorley holds the school's career record for ERA (1.16) and strikeouts (329).
Whorley has twice been named to the West Alameda County Conference 12 First Team. She also was chosen as the WACC 12 Pitcher of the Year and has been recognized by the Bay Area News Group, CalHiSports, SBlive and West Coast Preps for her efforts on the diamond.
