NASHVILLE, TENN. – The UIC baseball team competed in game two of its three-game series against Lipscomb Saturday, and in a back-and-forth contest, the Flames would lose on a walk-off home run, by a final score of 9-8.
- For the second consecutive game and the fourth time this season, the Flames scored first Saturday, as a Ryan Nagelbach solo home run and an AJ Henkle RBI triple put UIC ahead 2-0 before the Bison could get an at-bat.
- Lipscomb would answer in the bottom of the first, however, as a three-run home run and a second inning solo shot would put the Bison back ahead 4-2.
- UIC regained the lead in the fourth as two RBI walks and a Breck Nowik sacrifice fly put the Flames back on top 7-5.
- After a Lipscomb solo home run in the bottom of the sixth, Zane Zielinski would score on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh, putting UIC ahead 8-6.
- An Alex Vergara three-run home run with one out in the bottom of the ninth would prove to be the difference in Saturday's game.
- Brandon Bak was solid on the mound in relief of Tyler Ingram, going six complete innings and allowing just three runs.
The Flames and Bison will round out their three-game series Sunday, as the rubber match is set for a 1:00 p.m. CT first pitch from Dugan Field.
