MILLINGTON, Tenn. – The UIC baseball team closed out its three-game series against SIU Edwardsville Sunday afternoon, with the series victory on the line having won a game each on Saturday. The Cougars would go on to take the series finale by a final score of 9-1.
- The Flames got off to another slow start Sunday, just as they did in game two of Saturday's double-header, a 9-6 defeat. SIUE jumped out to an early 5-0 lead by the second inning, plating a run in the first and four in the second behind a three-run home run from Nick Terrell.
- Flames starter Tyler Ingram battled all afternoon, scattering seven hits and allowing six earned runs in the loss.
- AJ Henkle and Bobby Grimes both posted multi-hit games for UIC, with Henkle plating the lone Flames run with a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning.
- Zak Gould, Kendall Lyons, and Rigel Verciglio were all solid in relief for UIC, not surrendering a run in two and one-third combined innings pitched.
The Flames will be back in action on Tuesday, as they travel down to Purdue to square off against the Boilermakers of the Big Ten Conference. First pitch from Alexander Field in West Lafayette, Ind. is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CT. Listen to all the action Tuesday for free on the Flames Network, or watch for a subscription fee on B1G+.
