CINCINNATI, Ohio – Despite undesirable weather conditions, many UIC track & field athletes achieved personal bests at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational Saturday.
Temperatures in Cincinnati were around 45 degrees, with winds reaching up to 30-45 mph during the meet. 19 schools competed at Saturday's meet, which was hosted by Cincinnati.
TOP PERFORMANCES
WOMEN
- Haley Dahl ran a personal best at the 400m hurdles. She finished in sixth place with a time of 1:07.75.
- In the 800m, Kate Wojcikiewicz crossed the line 10th (2:18.10).
- Coming in at 12.62, Kaitlyn Rogers unlocked a new personal best in the 100m.
MEN
- Max Rivera nearly broke a school record in the 100m (10.52). His performance gave him a second place finish and is a personal best.
- Georgios Siomos came in fifth place at triple jump (12.56m).
- Dalton Burk finshed fifth in the 200m, crossing the line at 22.53.
COACH'S COMMENT
"Unfortunately the weather had some impact on our performances today, but collectively this was a great opener to our outdoor season," said interim head coach Paul Zavala. "Throughout the day we battled in each event and looking forward to our progress over the next few weeks."
UP NEXT
The Flames will be in Champaign, Ill. for the Fighting Illini Challenge next Saturday. The meet will take place at Demirjian Park on April 8, with more details being released as the meet nears.
