Softball Tallies Six Hits Against Missouri State Friday Night

Junior Anna Walker Knocked in UIC's Two RBIs

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The UIC softball team fell short against Missouri State in its first game of the series Friday night, 4-2.
  • Freshman Gianna Richy secured her second multi-hit game in a row, going 2-for-2 in the game. She currently is batting .800 this week.
  • UIC's two RBIs came off the bat of junior Anna Walker. She first scored sophomore Grace Fleming on a sacrifice fly in the top of the third. Her second RBI came on a fielder's choice in the sixth inning when she scored senior Alannah Cran.
  • Hits came off the bats of Cran, Fleming, senior Carlee Jo Clark, and freshman Tess Altevers Harris. Each of the four Flames went 1-for-3 in the game.
  • Senior Christina Toniolo pitched her third complete game in over a week for UIC. She pitched 6.0 innings, walked one batter, and struck out another.
 
LOOKING AHEAD THIS WEEKEND
 
  • Saturday's game has been moved from 2 p.m. to 12 p.m. due to impending inclement weather. The game will remain available to stream on ESPN3.
  • The series will conclude at noon on Sunday at noon and will be back on ESPN+.

#VSCANCER
  • In collaboration with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, members of the UIC softball program are raising money in the fight against pediatric brain tumors and childhood cancer.
  • This be an ongoing fundraiser throughout the month of April and will culminate on April 28 when UIC hosts Bradley to begin a three-game series.
