CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Despite unfavorable weather conditions, such as cold and wind, the UIC track and field program competed at a high level Friday and Saturday at the Gary Wieneke Memorial. The women's 4x100m relay team finished in first place, while other Flames claimed second and third place finishes in their respective events during the two-day meet.
TOP PERFORMANCES:
WOMEN
- UIC's winning 4x100m relay team consisted of Olivia Dumas, Kailynn Rogers, Deja Richardson, and Nyarai Terry. The four ran a 47.88, giving them a first-place finish.
- Individually, Olivia Dumas held her own in the 200m, crossing the finish line in second place. Her time of 24.54 puts her third all-time in Flames history.
- Emma Creviston is now in the UIC history books as the third-fastest 1500m runner. She came in third place in the event (4:37.75).
MEN
- Trevor Tousana's 400m time (49.27) is a season best, finishing in third place.
- Sacrad Michelin clocked in at 21.75 in the 200m, which puts him fifth all-time in Flames history. He finished in sixth place.
- Max Rivera came in right behind him, finishing in seventh place (21.76). He's now sixth all-time in the 200m at UIC.
COACH'S COMMENT
"Throughout the two-day competition, we had several outstanding performances and several new entries into the top ten all-time list," said Head Coach Paul Zavala. "As we gear up for a big weekend of competition at the Drake Relays, our team is preparing for a strong finish to the outdoor season."
UP NEXT
The Flames will compete in split competitions from Thursday through Saturday. The team will split between Iowa for the Drake Relays, and the Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College.
