ST. LOUIS – UIC will be co-hosting the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Missouri Valley Conference announced Friday afternoon. Eight different conference schools will host at least one championship during the 2023-24 academic year. 2024 marks the second year in a row UIC has co-hosted the Indoor Track & Field Championships.

"Excited once again to co-host the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in our great city of Chicago," says Head Coach Paul Zavala. "Last year, we held an outstanding event that showcased all the talented student-athletes in our conference, and we are looking forward to another great championship."

The Flames were selected to co-host the two-day competition in 2023, their first season in the Valley. The team had a strong showing in its inaugural year, with several school records broken and multiple athletes cracking the UIC top 10 all-time lists. Olivia Dumas and Max Rivera rewrote Flames history for the 200m and now both respectively sit in first place, while the 4x400m women's relay team became the second fastest in school history.

2024 will be the third straight year the MVC Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track & Field Center at Gately Park. The conference describes the 139,000-square-foot facility as world-class, featuring a hydraulically banked 200-meter track, a 4,000-square-foot curtained warm-up area, eight sprint lanes, two long and triple jump runways and pits, pole-vault runway and pads, a high jump area, discus area and scoreboard.

Illinois State won the 2023 MVC Indoor Track & Field Women's Championships, while Indiana State claimed the men's team title last season.

UIC will co-host the Championships with Valparaiso. The event will run from Feb. 25-26.
