CHICAGO – UIC golfers Megan Tang, Grace Szklarek and Dasa Urbankova were selected as 2022-23 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars.

To earn the recognition, student-athletes must have a 3.50 GPA on a 4.0 scale throughout their entire collegiate career and participated in more than 50-percent of the program's regularly scheduled competitive rounds. They also must have demonstrated high moral character and are in good standing with their respective university.

"I am not surprised that Grace, Megan, and Dasa would receive this honor," said Dr. Galen Duncan, UIC's women's golf sport administrator and Sr. Associate Athletics Director. "Nevertheless, we are proud of the way these young ladies approach competition and academics. They consistently set the standard for what it means to be a student-athlete."

In her first season at UIC, Urbankova obtained a 4.0 GPA while studying for her master's degree in Kinesiology. The graduate student was a four-time Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week and broke the UIC record for the lowest round and lowest round versus par at the Golfweek College event in September. She finished sixth at the MVC Women's Golf Championship in April. Her accomplishments on the course led to All-Conference, All-Tournament, and Scholar-Athlete First Team honors from the MVC.

Tang completed her fourth season at UIC with a 3.89 GPA and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. She became the sixth player in program history to win an individual title with her victory at the Briar Ridge Invitational in September, earning her the MVC Golfer of the Week recognition. At the end of the season, she received MVC All-Conference and Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention honors.

Szklarek, who has multiple majors, maintained a 3.86 GPA and never missed a single round of golf during her junior year. She finished in the top 15 in three invitationals over the 2022-23 season, with her best performance at the Briar Ridge Invitational, where she tied for fifth after shooting five-over-par in September.

All three golfers are set to compete for UIC this fall.
