Ten Flames Earn Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete Recognition

UIC softball collectively earned a 3.39 GPA for the 2022-23 academic year.

CHICAGO (Aug. 1, 2023) – The UIC softball team announced 10 of its members were selected as 2022-23 Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athletes.

A student-athlete qualifies for this award if she maintains a minimum 3.50 grade-point average (GPA) during the preceding academic year. Collectively, the Flames earned a 3.39 team GPA for the 2022-23 school year.

"It's an awesome achievement for ten of our student-athletes," said head coach Lynn Curylo. "I hope that this recognition serves as motivation for our team to add more names to the list in 2024."

The 10 Flames earning the award include:

Recent Graduates: Maica Ingles

Graduate Students: Alannah Cran and Carlee Jo Clark 

Senior: Anna Walker 

Redshirt Junior: Alyssa McIntosh

Juniors: Grace Fleming, Hailey Cowing, Isabelle Garcia and Larissa Ortiz 

The Flames are coming off their first season in the Missouri Valley Conference, with wins over Bradley, Drake, Evansville, and Valparaiso in conference play. UIC is set to announce its 2023 fall schedule in the coming weeks.
