WOLCOTT, Colo. (Sept. 27) – The UIC women's golf team concluded play Wednesday at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic in Wolcott, Colo. The Flames finished in a three-way tie for 13
th in the team standings while graduate student
Dasa Urbankova (Brno, Czech Republic/Menlo College) tied for 12
th in the individual standings to lead UIC golfers.

"I'm very proud of hour our team battled this weekend. The Golfweek Red Sky Classic had great competition and the Red Sky Golf Club was a challenging course to play. I believe this tournament was a great experience for our program and I am excited to see how the team will compete this upcoming weekend in Indianapolis."
GOLFWEEK RED SKY CLASSIC RECAP
- The Flames finished the three-day event with a team score of +57 (921). UIC had nearly identical team scores all three days, shooting 307, 306 and 308 respectively Monday through Wednesday.
- Urbankova finished the Golfweek Red Sky Classic +2 (218). Her best round was Monday, where she shot a 69 (-3).
- Senior Grace Szklarek (Granger, Ind./Penn) shot a +14 (230) to finish tied for 45th in the overall standings, while Brooke Beyer (Mesa, Ariz./Desert Ridge) finished in the Top 60 after shooting a +19 (235) over the three days.
- Lia Thomas (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) finished tied for 77th with a +25 (241) while Ellie McDonald (Indianapolis, Ind./Heritage Christian) placed 87th, shooting +52 (268)
NEWS AND NOTES
- UIC finished the three rounds with 28 birdies. Urbankova led the way with ten birdies.
- Urbankova's first round score of -3 (69) ties the second-lowest individual round in program history along with being the second lowest round under par in team history. The graduate student broke the program record last week, shooting at 68 (-4) at the Brittany Kelly Classic.
- The graduate student's 54 hole score of 218 is tied for the fourth-best mark in program history.
- The Flames finished tied in the team standings with Murray State, the other Missouri Valley Conference program at the event, and Ball State, who won the Brittany Kelly Classic team title last week.
- UIC competed without senior Megan Tang (Memphis, Tenn./St. Mary's) in Colorado. Tang recently finished third in the individual standings at the Brittany Kelly Classic with a +2 (218) across the three round event.
UP NEXT
- The Flames head to Indianapolis next week for the Butler Fall Invitational
- The two-day event will take place at the Highland Golf & Country Club from Oct. 2-3.
