CHICAGO (Jan. 25, 2024) – The UIC indoor track and field teams will stay in the Windy City for another meet this weekend as they take part in DePaul's Blue Demon Alumni Classic. The Flames will compete Friday and Saturday at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track & Field Center at Gately Park in Chicago. This will be the third meet in a row for UIC at Gately Park, which is also the site of the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships that the Flames and Valparaiso will co-host Feb. 25-26.

UIC is among 12 collegiate programs, many from the Chicagoland area, participating in this weekend's meet, a group that includes Northwestern, Loyola, Valparaiso, Chicago State, Aurora and North Central. The field events get started at 4 p.m. (CT) Friday and 11 a.m. (CT) Saturday, while the track races will begin at 5:30 p.m. (CT) Friday and 10 a.m. (CT) Saturday. The Flames started 2024 on a high note with strong performances at the Aurora Grand Prix on Jan. 19, also at Gately Park. The UIC men's team placed second out of 16 teams, while the women finished fourth out of 12 teams. Individually, multiple Flames placed in the top three in their respective events. Freshman
Praise Oyebanji (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) earned a first-place finish in the 800 meters, while UIC took the top five spots in the men's 3,000 meters, with senior

FLAMES TO WATCH
Women
- Oyebanji will look for a second consecutive win at 800 meters, an event she currently ranks fifth all-time in the UIC record book.
- Junior Nyarai Terry (Chicago, Ill./Thornton) will race in the 60-meter hurdles, owning the second-best time in school history in that event.
- Senior Daniela Martinez (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) will represent the Flames in the mile, an event in which she ranks eighth in the UIC record book.
- Freshman Ava Maglaya (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville) will be in the jumping pit for the Flames, already sitting fifth in the program's record book in the triple jump.
Men
- Junior Max Rivera (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) will represent the Flames in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes. He currently holds the school records in both events.
- The 60-meter dash is also on the horizon for junior Paul Sackman (Lincolnwood, Ill./Niles West), who is fifth in school history in that race.
- Senior Sacrad Michelin (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) will compete in the 200-meter dash, in which the senior ranks seventh in UIC's record book.
- Freshman Jackson Irby (Downers Grove, Ill. Downers Grove North), who already ranks seventh at UIC at 300 meters, will also be running that race this weekend.
