Peoria, Ill. (Oct. 18, 2024) UIC men's and women's cross country teams attended the Pink Classic hosted by Bradley University this afternoon, where both teams made significant strides.

In an event that included several of the Midwest's best teams, the Flames had standout performers on both the men's and women's sides. Both teams competed in the red division with the men's team placing seventh of twenty-nine teams, and the women's team finishing twenty-fifth out of thirty-two teams.

- Continuing his record breaking campaign Junior Daniel Chavez (Berwyn, Ill./Morton) beat the 8000m school record that he set his last time out. This time running 24:06.
- Junior Angel Solis (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) finished with a time of 24:40, giving him the sixth fastest time in the 8000m in UIC history.
- Also putting his name on the all-time list, sophomore Theodore Cunningham (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) ran a 24:44 moving him to seventh all time.

- Senior Daniela Martinez (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) ran a 21:34, placing her at fifth all-time in school history.
- Moving into tenth all-time sophomore Praise Oyebanji (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) finished with a time of 22:13.
