Peoria, Ill. (Nov. 15, 2024) The UIC 2024 cross country season wrapped up earlier today as the Flames competed at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships.

In one of the country's most competitive regionals, the Flames fought hard till the very end. The men's team finished twenty-third out of twenty-nine teams, while the women's team finished twenty-nine out of thirty-three teams.

Women
- Senior Daniela Martinez (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) was the first Flame to finish, running a 21:36.01 in the 6K.
- Sophomore Indigo Sterud (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) ran a personal best on the final day of the season finishing with a time of 22:31.21.
- Fellow sophomore Praise Oyebanji (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) ran a 22:07.06.

Men
- Finishing up his historic season junior Daniel Chavez (Berwyn, Ill./Morton) ran 31:05.06 in the 10K.
- Sophomore Alexander Das (Oswego, Ill./Oswego East) finished with a time of 31:15.84 moving him to no. 8 on the Flames' all-time list in the 10k
- Freshman Zac Close (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) finished his first campaign as a Flame with a time of 31:56.16.
