Chicago, Ill. (Nov. 14, 2024) The 2024 cross country season is coming to a close as the Flames head to Peoria, Illinois, to compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship, hosted by Bradley University, on November 15. The Women's 6K race will begin at 11:00 a.m. CT, with the Men's 10K race to follow at noon CT.

Last Time Out - Missouri Valley Conference Championships

In one of the most competitive conferences in the midwest, the Flames put in a strong effort with several runners turning in personal bests. On the women's side, Senior
Daniela Martinez (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) ran a 21:14.7 which moved her to second on the all-time UIC record book in the 6K race. Fellow Senior
Luke Malone (Plain City, Ohio/Jonathin Adler) had a career day running a 24:11.3 and moving up to second on the all-time UIC list in the 8K race.

- Daniela Martinez currently sits at no. 2 on UIC's all time list in the 6K with a time of 21:14
- Sophomore Praise Oyebanji (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) is at no. 6 on the all time list in the 6K coming in with a time of 21:47.

- Junior Daniel Chavez (Berwyn, Ill./Morton) comes into these championships as the school record holder in the 8K with a time of 24:09.
- Not far behind Luke Malone is second on the all-time list with a time of 24:11.
