CHICAGO (Nov. 1, 2024) – The UIC women's basketball program's future shines bright on National Signing Day as the trio of London Walker George, Marissa Green and Aileen Becerril have signed to compete for Chicago's College Team beginning in the 2025-26 season.

"We are thrilled to welcome three high character competitors to our Flames Family," head coach Ashleen Bracey said. "As we graduate 11 seniors this upcoming season, we hit the recruiting trail looking for student-athletes that would complement the culture we have already built and continue to elevate our program to new heights."

London Walker-George
Chicago, Ill./ Kenwood Academy – 5' 11" Small Forward

A three-year varsity starter at DePaul College Prep, Walker-George is set to finish her high school career at Kenwood Academy this upcoming season. She finished her three-years on varsity with the Rams with a 63-25 record, including Illinois High School Association 2A Regional/Sectional Championships in 2022 and 2023. Walker-George finished the 2023-24 season earning Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-State Third Team honors for her efforts on the court. A member of the Chicago Hoops Express travel team, Walker-George has been playing for the same club team and coach in Jerald Davis as Bracey had before her collegiate career.

"London Walker-George is a well-rounded addition to our Flames Family," Bracey said. "She embodies Chicago toughness, physicality, and a hard-nosed defensive mentality.  She comes to us from one of the top High School basketball teams in the city of Chicago (Kenwood Academy).  She will bring a competitive mindset to our program each and every day.  London prides herself on being a glue kid and will impact our team chemistry and comradery immediately."

Marissa Green
Fort Thomas, Ky. /Highlands – 6' 3" Power Forward

Green is set to enter her fourth season on the varsity level at Highland High School and has been a fixture in the Bluebirds success. A double-double machine, Green finished her junior campaign averaging 15.6 points and nine rebounds per game. Her best season came during her sophomore year, when she was named the Northern Kentucky Basketball Coaches Association Division II Player of the Year after ranking third in the entire state in field goal percentage (63.7%) on just 333 shot attempts. Green has already surpassed 1,000 career points at Highland, helping lead the Bluebirds to back-to-back District 36 championships. Outside of high school play, Green has been competing for the West Virginia Thunder Girls Under Armor travel team.

"Marissa Green will be a force in the Valley, "Bracey said. "She has the size, work ethic, and skill to impact at a high level for years to come.  She is an incredible student and tremendous person that will long serve as an ambassador for our university and program.  Marissa's size and physicality inside, paired with her versatile skill away from the basket will be a match up nightmare.  She has incredible upside and is committed to working hard to elevate this program and her abilities on and off the court.

Aileen Becerril
Garden City, Ks. / Garden City/Clarendon College – 5' 10" Shooting Guard

Becerril will join the Flames after she completes her second season on the junior college level at Clarendon College. The guard played in all 32 games last season for the Bulldogs, averaging 8.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. Becerril was a strong shooter in her first season at Clarendon College, shooting 37.4% all over the court, and shot 37.3% from beyond the arc, sinking 76 three-pointers (27th in National Junior College Athletic Association Region 5). She scored in double figures across 14 games, including two 20-point games vs. Western Oklahoma Community College on Nov. 14 and McLennan Community College on Mar. 13. Becerril was a three-year starter at Garden City High School in her home state of Kansas and played on the Kansas Elite travel team.

Aileen Becerril fills an immediate need as a floor stretcher for our program," Bracey said. "She has an innate ability to shoot the ball with or without the dribble.  She has two years of college playing experience that will be needed as we graduate some of our experienced shooters.  Aileen is a high character young lady that values work ethic, community service, and competing at high level day in and day out.  She will be an incredible addition to our program and is committed to helping to continue to elevate UIC women's basketball."
