CHICAGO (Nov. 5, 2024) – The UIC men's soccer team (7-8, 3-4 MVC) closes out the regular season this week, as it hits the road for a Wednesday afternoon matinee in Kalamazoo against Western Michigan (10-1-6, 2-1-4 MVC). Kick-off is set for 1:30 p.m. CT from the WMU Soccer Complex, and the match can be seen live on WMU All-Access.
FLAMES FACTS
With Friday night's 2-0 victory over Bradley, the Flames not only stopped a four-match skid, they also secured a spot in the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Championships. Seeding for UIC will depend on the results of Wednesday's league-wide matches, but the Flames can expect to be either the five or six seed and will be the road team in a quarterfinals match that will take place this Sunday, Nov. 10.
In Friday night's victory,
Bart Muns (Amsterdam, Netherlands) extended his team lead in goals, tallying his sixth of the year after the second half match-winner from
Brian Perez (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove), his first of 2024.
Oren Asher (Hetzliya, Israel/Rutgers) tallied his second clean sheet of the season, making eight saves to keep the Braves at bay.
SERIES NOTES
The all-time series between the Flames and Broncos is tied 6-6-1, with Western Michigan besting UIC in Chicago 1-0 on Sept. 30, 2023.
UP NEXT
The Flames will begin play in the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Championships this Sunday, Nov. 10, as they will face either the #3 or #4 seed on the road. Kick-off time is TBD depending on opponent, but the match will be shown live on ESPN+.
