Chicago (Dec. 5, 2024) UIC's 2024-25 indoor track and field season will begin this Friday, December 6, as the Flames travel to Grand Valley State for the Holiday Open Meet. The meet will feature teams from various divisions, making it an excellent starting point for the Flames as they kick off the season.
 
Meet Information
 
Field events will begin at 1:30 p.m. (ET), with running events set to begin at 3:30 p.m. (ET).
 
The event will take place at the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale, Mich.
 
Flames to Watch
Women

• The Flames will look to the duo of Alessia Sarussi (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) and Praise Oyebanji (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) to start off their 2024-25 campaign strong as both will compete in the mile this Friday.
• Senior Daniela Martinez (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) will compete in the 3000-meter.

Men

• Junior Zachary Barisa (Frisco, TX/Frisco Wakeland) is set to begin his junior year campaign in the 800-meter.
• Sophomore Amare Harris (Bloomington, Ill. /Bloomington) will be leading the Flames' sprinting group competing in the 60-meter.
• Following a strong cross-country season Theodore Cunningham (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) will be competing in the 3000-meter this Friday.
